This drink has a disgusting name, but it lives up to it's name quite well. Here is an early printing of this drink:
Orange Coast Magazine - Jun 1980 - Page 117 Vol. 6, No. 6
"Among the house specialties are the "Adios Mother", a combination of vodka, gin, triple sec, white creme de menthe, lemon juice, blue curacoa and soda."
This drink appears at the same time as the Electric Iced Tea but, it originates much further south, some even say Mexico. This early printing was from the west coast, however, The full name was not given, the ingredients are not accurate, and curacao is spelled incorrectly. So we can dismiss this as a source of factual historical data, however, it certainly can be considered a reference point.
This drink appears in much early Texas literature such as Texas Monthly and The Houston Chronicle and it seems to have gained the most popularity during the middle 1990's as we see in these publications:
Complete world bartender guide - Page 428 by Bob Sennett in 1993
Seagram's Bartending Guide by Seagram Company, Ltd. Staff, Publishing Affinity in 1995
The Art of the Shmooze - Page 84 by Bret Saxon, Steve Stein in 1998
This drink dates between 1972 - 1978 and contained at least as of then:
