Angel's Tip

This drink derives from the angel's kiss and belong's to a sub-category of drinks within the creme family called the "angels era". Here is an early printing of this drink:

. Liquor marketing and liquor advertising: a guide for executives ... by Henry Bretzfield in 1955

"Angel's Tip. Fill a cordial glass 1/2 full with creme de cacao. Float sweet cream on the top."

The angels era appears in literature as early as 1946 as seen here:

How liquor is produced - May 27, 1946 - Page 70 by LIFE

"POUSSE CAFE ANGEL'S KISS Into pony glass pour following ingredients Fill 1/4 of pony glass with creme de cacao, very carefully pour sloe gin, cream, then brandy."

It is undetermined where this drink derives, the best hypothesis would be it was named after the 1946 hit, which still runs today, "It's A Wonderful Life". A story about a down and out man who's suicide is prevented by an angel. This would explain the length of the era and the timeframe is accurate.

This drink dates between 1946 - 1954 and contained at least as of then:
