This drink is named after the now italian ball sport. Bocce Ball is a game that is played internationally. Here is an early printing of this drink:

San Diego magazine: Volume 32 in 1980

"the club mixes jazz and rock for the casual 21-35 crowd who stay on after deep-dish pizza for dancing or bocce ball — Amaretto. orange juice and tequila."

This drink also appears in New West: Volume 5 in 1980

There was an advertisement placed by Di Saronno for this drink in 1982 when they sponsored a bocce ball tournament as seen here:

"A good player Carefully hailing the bocce ball, eyes on the path [no. this competitor lines up his next 60- loot shot. ... New York, where the International Bocce Association is holding a tournament, sponsored by Amaretto di Saronno"

This drink has no location of origin, it was certainly created by amaretto di saronno. This drink dates between 1979 - 1980 and contained at least as of then:
