Brave Bull

This drink has no proprietor, although it is not a family of drinks itself, this drink certainly belongs to the Kahlua family of drinks. It is undetermined where the name of this drink derives, only the person who placed the advertisement knows this. Best hypothesis would indicate that the "bull" portion of the name derives from tequila, which is one of the two ingredients in this drink.

The "brave" portion of the name is unclear. Brave has not been a term used by bartenders to identify drinks, although bull has. Much like the bullshot and bloody bull, meant the addition of beef boullion. But this term has nothing to do with this drink.

Here are a few early printings of this drink:

A guide to retirement in Mexico: double your income, double your fun by M. Truett Garrett in 1965

"After your meal, try a Brave Bull: Tequila and Kahlua (coffee liqueur), half and half over ice."

The New Yorker: Volume 40 in 1965

"In famous cocktails, like the Black Russian, Kahlua Sour and Brave Bull."

There were several advertisements for Kahlua between 1965 - 1971 internationally and until 1974 nationally for this drink. It was created by kahlua but unclear why the name was chosen.

This drink dates between 1964 - 1965 and contained atleast as of then:
