Bushwacker

This drink has very little history published regarding it. The drink appears in print as early as:

Keys Cuisine: Flavors of the Florida Keys - Page 42 by Linda Gassenheimer in 1994

"Drinks Hawk's Cay Bushwacker, President Bush's visit to the Florida Keys just before his inauguration in January 1989. Fill a 12 -ounce glass with ice cubes and add the rum, Midori, banana liqueur, Kahlua, and cream"

Surprisingly there is no reference to this drink prior to this and all literature indicates that this drink was created in Florida. The Hawk's Cay is a famous luxury resort that is located in the florida keys and not only is it possibly they invented the drink, it is likely.

A year later another publication of this drink indicates it was created in Florida as seen here:

Tampa Bay Magazine - Jul-Aug 1995 - Page 111 Vol. 10, No. 3

"Naturally, you can get your frozen Daiquiris here, but you will want to try their Deck Diesel, Bushwacker, Pina Colada open Sun-Thurs till midnight; Fri-Sat till 2 am; closed Mon; cocktail time (2 for 1) 11:30 am- 6 pm Tue-Sun."

There seems to be an overwhelming amount of incorrect recipes surrounding this drink, especially after 2000. However, using common ingredients, process of elimination, and creadible references we have been able to determine an accuarate recipe.

This drink dates between 1989 and 1993 and contained at least as of then:
